Scheduling regular maintenance for your automatic pool cover is one of the most effective ways to extend its lifespan, prevent breakdowns, and keep the system operating safely. Pacific Pool Covers provides professional maintenance service throughout the Bay Area and Northern California.
Maintenance is proactive service focused on keeping your cover system clean, properly adjusted, and running at full capacity. It’s not a repair service — if a component is found to be faulty during a visit, we’ll identify it and quote it separately. A standard maintenance visit includes:
Cleaning out the cover box (the housing where the cover rolls up)
Inspecting and lubricating the track system
Checking rope tension and condition
Inspecting pulleys and guide mechanisms
Examining the fabric for wear, cracking, or damage
Testing the motor and a full open-and-close cycle
Noting any components that may need attention soon
Maintenance vs. Repairs
Maintenance is scheduled, preventive service — cleaning, inspecting, and adjusting the system. It does not include replacing failed components. If a rope breaks or a motor fails, that’s a separate repair visit. A maintenance visit will catch those problems early, but resolving them is a separate service. Pacific Pool Covers offers tiered maintenance options; ask our team what each tier covers when you call.
Keep your pool water level in the middle of the skimmer
Let the pool breathe for 30 minutes after adding chemicals before closing the cover
Pump standing water off the top of the cover before opening — don’t drag it over the edge into the housing box
Stop closing the cover as soon as it reaches either end of the track
Use traps rather than poison for rodents near pool equipment — rodents commonly chew ropes and fabric

Gabriel is trustworthy and reliable. I didn't think pool covers were that necessary, but now have learned they stop water from evaporating and keep your pool warm and clean. After he repaired our neighbor's pool cover, they recommended him to do our installation. Totally worth the investment. Give this guy a call!

When we had issues with our pool cover (which had been installed by a different company) Gabriel was wonderful - he analyzed and diagnosed the problem. He comes with many years of years of experience in the pool cover industry and a helpful and problem-solving attitude. A few weeks later, he checked in to see that it was still working.
Gabriel is also a delight to deal with - he showed up when he said he would. All around, he's a clear and respectful communicator. After years of struggling with an old cover and other local companies who kept us waiting forever and could never seem to fix the issues, we are so glad we found Pacific Pool Covers. Highly recommend them.
You can clear debris from the cover surface, keep the water level correct, and pump off standing water. Internal mechanical maintenance should be handled by a trained technician.
